Here's a
photo of Koji Yakusho at the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival,
which started on October 22.  During the Festival, three of Koji Yakusho's films,
"Kamikaze Taxi (1995), Chronicle of My Mother (2012) and The Emperor in
August (2015) will be shown.

October 20, 2015
The DVD and Blue-ray of "The Emperor in August" will be issued on
January 6, 2016.  It has English subtitles.

The cast for Mamoru Hosoda’s forthcoming  Bakemomo no Ko /
The Boy and
the Beast anime film has been announced: Koji Yakusho is Kumatetsu, a bear-
like being who acts as a teacher to the human Kyuta.

As a Koji Yakusho retrospective, thirteen of his films will be shown in Switzerland from
February 16 to March 31, 2015 at a public film theater, named
Filmpodium  in the city
of Zurich, presented by the Japan Foundation and The Embassy of Japan in Bern.

According to
the Japan Foundation website, the Foundation will initiate a big project,
entitled “Japanese Films Screening Overseas in February 2015.” The area involved
covers Asia , Oceania, Europe, the Middle East and Africa!  

Koji Yakusho Retrospective in Switzerland is a part of this project. Koji Yakusho’s
office says that the thirteen films comprise the largest number at his films ever to be
shown in a single project overseas up to the present time.

The thirteen films are:
The Sleeping Man, 1996, Shall we dance?,1996,  Eel ,1997,  Dora-Heita ,2000, Eureka
The Warm Water under the Red Bridge 2001, Babel 2006,
Toad’s Oil 2009, Thirteen Assassins
2010, The Woodsman and the Rain 2011, The
Chronicle of My Mother 2011, and The World of Kanako 2014.

Koji Yakusho himself will visit Switzerland to greet the audience on February 16 at 19:
00 before the showing of
“Shall we dance?” He will also greet the audience on February
17 at 18:00 before the showing of
“Dora Heita”; and on the same evening, after the
showing of
“Toad’s Oil”, he will hold a question-and-answer session about that film ,
which he directed.

"Koji Yakusho Retrospective in Switzerland" is being held to commemorate the 150th
anniversary since the start of
Japan-Swiss diplomatic relations.

The Blue-ray & DVD for "Higurashi no Ki"/A Samurai Chronicle will be
on sale from April 15, 2015. Reportedly it is world-wide region-free.

The release date for "Japan's Longest Day" has been decided as August 8, 2015,
and the film's
first poster has been published.

Koji Yakusho's new film
Koji Yakusho's new film was announced today. It is a Japanese film
entitled "Nihon no Ichiban Nagaihi". This is
a remake of  the 1967 Kihachi
"Japan's Longest Day. The role of Koji Yakusho is that of
Army minister, Korechika Anami. The director is Masato Harada.
Mr.Mark Schilling reports
the news in "Variety".

The official website for this film has just opened. Director Masato Harada says
that he has put the English subtitle for this film as "The Emperor in August".
